This policy explains how Business Boat ("we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you visit thebusinessboat.in, use our software (including our CRM, team inbox and chatbots), or connect your WhatsApp Business account, Facebook Page or Instagram account to our apps.

Who we are

Business Boat is a technology company in India that builds WhatsApp Business Platform solutions, chatbots, custom software, e-commerce stores and IT services for businesses.

Our role

For data that our business clients put into our software, such as their customers' names, phone numbers and WhatsApp messages, the client decides why and how it is used, and we process it only on their instructions. For data about our own clients, website visitors and people who contact us, we decide how it is used.

Data we collect

From our business clients

• Name, business name, email, phone number, billing and GST details.
• Login details for our apps and account settings.

Through Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp)

When a business connects its accounts to our apps using Facebook Login or WhatsApp Embedded Signup, and only with the permissions it approves, we may receive:

• Business account details: WhatsApp Business Account ID, phone number ID, display name, message templates, and Facebook Page or ad account IDs.
• WhatsApp messages sent to and from the business's number, including text, media, contact name, phone number, and delivery and read status.
• Leads submitted through the business's Facebook and Instagram lead forms, such as name, phone, email, city and form answers.
• Access tokens needed to operate the integration, stored encrypted.

From website visitors

• Information you send us by email or WhatsApp.
• Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used for security and to keep the site working.

How we use data

• To provide our services: sending and receiving WhatsApp messages, running chatbots, showing conversations and leads in the team inbox and CRM, and managing message templates for the business.
• To send conversion events back to the business's own Meta ad account, when the business turns this on.
• To set up accounts, provide support, bill for services and keep our systems secure.
• To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use data received from Meta platforms for advertising, profiling or any purpose other than providing the service the business has asked for, and we follow the Meta Platform Terms and WhatsApp Business Policy.

Sharing

We share data only with:

• Meta Platforms, to send and receive messages and manage templates through the WhatsApp Business Platform.
• Service providers who host our servers, send email or process payments, under contracts that require them to protect the data.
• Authorities, when required by law.

How long we keep data

We keep client data for as long as the client uses our services. When a client stops using a service or asks us to delete their data, we delete or anonymise it within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (for example invoices). Access tokens are deleted as soon as an account is disconnected.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), access tokens are stored encrypted, and each client's data is kept separate and accessible only to their authorised users and the Business Boat staff who support them.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable laws, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or raise a complaint. If you are a customer of one of our client businesses, you can contact that business directly or write to us and we will pass your request to them. See how to delete your data.
